Happy Thanksgiving!

Today is Thanksgiving Day and it's a very important holiday in America. It's a time to spend thanking whatever blessings have come our way.

Now that we're in that Thanksgiving mood, I try to think what I should be thankful for. I should have a lot but sometimes, we're not trained to see things that way. We tend to take the good things for granted and instead, we concentrate on the bad things. I, myself, am not any different. I know there are a lot of things I must be thankful for but when I think of the tragedies that have befallen me throughout the years (most especially last year), I just think this life sucks.

But does it?

In reality, I'm probably very fortunate, more fortunate than a lot of other people around the world who are experiencing war, death, hunger, poverty, hopelessness, etc. When I think of Iraq or Darfur in Sudan, I think to myself that I am indeed much luckier to be here in America. And not only that, I am here in America and I'm living pretty much a good life.

However, while my life here may seem to be materially wonderful and prosperous to some extent, I cannot help but feel down because emotionally, I am in Iraq or Darfur in Sudan. My life may look great from the outside but deep inside, I know it's not.

I thank the Lord for all the blessings I have received but sometimes, I wish I got the ones that mattered more to me. My friends know what they are.

Anyway, Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
